Miley Cyrus’ Banned Concert in the Dominican Republic

SANTO DOMINGO, Dominican Republic — The government commission in the Dominican Republic in charge of overseeing public events has decided to cancel a Miley Cyrus concert scheduled for September 13th due to moral reasons.

On Thursday, the committee announced in a statement that they had taken action against Cyrus because of her frequent behavior that goes against the morals and customs, which are punishable by Dominican law.

Tickets for the concert in the capital, with prices ranging from $27 to $370, have been on sale since July.
Some reviewers have stated that Cyrus’s antics on stage, including twerking and crotch-grabbing, are considered vulgar.

A representative from Cyrus did not immediately respond to a request for comments. The concert organizers in the Dominican Republic chose not to comment on the ban. The commission has previously banned airing songs they deem vulgar, including some by the Puerto Rican group Calle 13.
